Job Title: Deskside Support Technician
Job Type: 3-year Part-time Contract
Location: 180 Constellation Drive, Stoney Creek, L8E 5N4
Shift Schedule: Wednesdays, 9 AM to 5 PM
Pay Rate: $30 to $35/hr Inc.
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: 3 years after start date

Responsibilities:
  • On-Site Support Services  
  • Smart hand support for peripheral and networking hardware, including, but not limited to: monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, scanners, routers, wireless routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Deployment of PC/Laptop and other end-user devices
  • Correctly manage tickets in the ITSM tool following appropriate procedural documentation
  • Perform technical diagnosis and repair of defective hardware, including break-fix, support, and assistance for end-user computing devices (desktops, laptops Windows based and Macs, mobile devices, tablets, desk phones, softphones, and printers)
  • Correct problems associated with failure or maintenance of the end user computing devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve software functionality for the operating system and standard desktop applications on the supported platforms (Windows, MacOS, iOS etc.)
  • Maintain asset inventories following applicable procedural documentation using approved Merck tools.
  • Deployment of PCs, laptops, and other end-user devices.
  • Manages ITSM tickets, diagnoses hardware issues, resolves software functionality, maintains site-specific documentation, and oversees asset inventories throughout the device lifecycle

Qualifications
  • A Degree or Diploma in Electronics and CompTIA A+ Certification
  • A minimum of Two to three (2-3) years of experience providing IT Infrastructure field support including troubleshooting hardware, software, and operating system issues and problems and fixing the issues without impacting/violating the hardware warranty or customer security compliance requirements.
  • Must have hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting and fixing desktops, printers, laptops and other computer peripherals hardware problems.
  • Experience or ability to follow installation instructions installing and troubleshooting desktop applications.
  • Basic knowledge of enterprise LAN and WAN setups and concepts. Ability to perform smart hand support under instruction-based
  • activities at sites.
  • Skilled in desk-side support and PC break/fix including basic administration of Windows O/S.
  • Basic Mac O/S support  
  • Good written, and oral communication skills and good people management skills with clients and management.
